Mrs. Bolle (19??-2009)

...was her name....

...a nice girl from Austria...she found her love in Hannover.....she loved the cats....and the cigarettes....she was the kind, little post office of the house....she was the lovely ghost of the house.....and she lived next door....and she left... yesterday....forever....!

dearest Mrs. Bolle,
wherever you are, you will be unforgotten....I liked you so much, you always told me that the Kaiser Franz was the lucky one who married Sissi....

love
yours bavarian girl
Petra

P.S.: Mrs. Bolle is not a cat she was our neighbour who lived downstairs, but I have no picture and the cat above is looking like her cat... ;-)

the train of thoughts....

...carrying me...

..like a mini sandstorm in the desert...

...jumping on a trailer, sitting on the top of the rocks and going somewhere in the nowhere...

...caravaning with the camels in the desert....

...in the bright sunlight....

...falling in the veil...?

...somewhere in the desert...I wish to be there....me, myself an I....!

grandpa (1925-2009)

...where is he now?

He travelled through oriental countries, he spoke arabic, he took a ride by camel and by horse, he build streets in the shadow of the pyramides, he had friends there, he told me once he wished he could spent his life there, he took so much nice pictures, he travelled to africa, he was a hunter for life, he loved his dogs, he married my lovely grandma, he got 3 wonderful daughters, he was very talented...

Now, today on his birthday the great adventurer is gone, forever....my beloved grandpa (1925-2009)

dearest grandpa, I wish I could travel on your oriental route, once in my life....!

caftan....

...delirium :-)

I watched the windows...

..and stepped into the shop, asked for the pink silk caftan coat with beautiful heavy flower embroidery, the salesman offered me a bright blue one...not my size....offered me another neon green one...oh, no, no...I asked again for the pink coat...just size XL left :-( finally he offered me lots of caftan coats in pastell shades....I said "thanks very much" to him and left the shop...

...then I watched some more caftan dresses....

...and finally felt in love with this one, too...but my supersweet mother-in-law gave me a similar one a few years ago...and feel still proud to got this fantastic, handmade gift....a precious, traditional caftan dress from Palestine :-) ...and bought no new caftan...and I am not worried :-)

P.S: I wanted to take some dresses in one of the shops in the changing room, just to take some nice pictures because I found some moroccan style evening wear in the Mecca Mall in Amman, but I felt so "staring attacked"...so we left the shop...and the Mall..maybe next time...

happy sunday....

....and a little eye candy found in the Souks of Marrakech, Essaouira, Amman & Istanbul :-)

berry shades of heavy embroidered fabric from Damascus, beaded and embroidered vintage medaillons from Uzbekistan, the colour scheme goes perfect with the vintage calligraphy bowls I had found last year in November at our friend Mustafa´s Shop in Essaouira :-)

vintage Ikat bowls from Uzbekistan...did I ever told you that I probably addicted to blue and white bowls in general?... no vacation, no one-day trip and I am not coming back home with another version of one or two blue and white bowls.... ;-)

...some bright yellow Babouche from Marrakech...*loveit* ...striped and embroidered fabric in fresh green, turqouise and lemon shades from Damascus (found in the fantastic fabric shop in Amman) and rare vintage Medaillons decorated with little mirrorwork, metalzari and beads :-)

...watch the beauty of the cream and golden fabric with the little black pattern at Esra´s blog :-)

Usually the fabrics from Damascus are used traditional for nice caftans and robes, I visited the little fabric shop twice (first visit = colourflash overloaded *hehe*) and whilest I was there a nice lady bought so much fabric, too....she even can´t carry the fabric.... the owner of the fabric shop told me that she´s also a dressmaker and I watched what kind of colour combination she bought....

I found out that the favourite colour combinations in Jordan are this few colours: deep red and berry shades, cream, coffee brown, dusky lilac and violet and a hint of greens and blues.

... it goes perfect with all the golden shades....the most popular colour in the middle east, probably.... ;-)

Happy Sunday :-)

17.04.2009

please....

.....!
finally, I bought this nice sign at Safeway´s, too.....I am not a blonde, I am not wearing miniskirts, I am not wearing watch-the-bellybutton and everything else T-shirts, I am not wearing the casual as usual tourist style, I am not coming from mars and it´s not the first time I am going to Jordan....WHY you guys in Jordan don´t stop staring at me?? Next time I do not wear my favourite Djellaba, I want to buy a nice and comfortable burqua and don´t stop staring at you, guys.......probably...!!

This makes me so sad!

Safeway adventure....

...shopping....!

Today:

..want some "Sultan Ibrahim" Macaroni *hehe* ;-)

...also some oriental washing powder is offered...

...any cockroaches in the house??? I love this section just because of the word "pifpaf".....!

..the oriental version of Kellogg´s cornflakes.... ;-)

Usually we prefer the local markets for buying vegetables and food in general or the daily home delivery where you can buy fruits, vegetables, candy floss and gas for cooking, but I love it to spend some time exploring the supermarkets in other countries....often you will find things make you laugh for sure, because you can never imagine that they would sell this in your home country... ;-)

24 hours...

...fresh cardamom coffee to go in Jordan!

Wherever you passing by this little trolleys....

...or little shops with the most beautiful decorated silver coffeepots...

...take a break and order fresh coffee :-)

We ordered my last coffee inbetween midnight and the sunrise before I left to Istanbul about one week ago...

..and I must say, I´ve got the sweetest and strongest coffee ever in my live....!

This "coffee thing" is one of the things I really love in Jordan, in general I have to say "the country is very different and very difficult".....!

P.S.: I am still thinking about this: "how to get one of this huge, silver beauties back home....?!"

12.04.2009

happy easter sunday...

...and some bead eye candy ;-)

I wish all of you a relaxing (easter) sunday with your beloved ones :-)

10.04.2009

...the most delicious summak chicken ever...spicy roasted chicken layered between some special flat bread and lots of onions and roasted pine nuts, served with yoghurt....

My supersweet mother-in-law and her supercute sister (when she lived in Kuwait, she became the cook for the secretary of defense) are amazing cooking sisters ;-) ...there is no dish I don´t love when we spend some time "at home". I want to say "thanks so much for everything" to this two wonderful women -they are very special like two queens from a oriental tale- and family who stepped into my life some years ago :-)

sugar cane & fruit cocktail :-)

...one of my favourite drinks when we spend a day in the Amman souk...

...fresh made from seasonal fruits..

...banana, apple, pear, strawberry and red orange...

..the best fruit cocktail bar in the old souk of Amman is located next to the parking garage :-) and also try this...

...no, no they don´t offer this for your fireplace.... ;-)

...about 5 min. walk the way right from the mosque...

... enjoy fresh squeezed supersweet sugar cane juice :-) *yummy*

08.04.2009

curious bag finding...

..in the heart of the old souk in Amman....

...in a shop filled with minimum 1001 vintage treasures....

...hundreds of beautiful bedouin pillows, magic carpets and vintage stuff I´d never seen before....

...a cauri shell embroidered very old leather bag...I asked myself, "hey little Gnaoua style bag, where are you came from, did you found the way with a camel caravane in past times to this place"??

...and a little, poor crocodile crossed my way :-( ...you will better just take a picture of the little crocodile, otherwise you will be arrested at the customs for sure!!!
